If you haven’t had a chance to go out and experience the fall colors and savor the crisp air, I encourage you to take a walk in the woods.

I’ve had a few opportunities in recent weeks to enjoy the woods and all the colors that haven’t quite come in full yet, but it’s been beautiful. With a gentle walk on a forest road, seeing beautiful waterfalls, or charging up the side of a mountain, anything you can do to get some exercise in the great outdoors is worth it. It helps clear your mind too, and my mind tends to percolate over many things.

Hiking helps me sort out life. I find if I’m sitting at home, my mind gets too busy with what I need to accomplish that I don’t stop to think and plan. A walk in the woods calms your mind enough to think through what you need to do and how to do it. Taking a walk is not only therapeutic and good for your health, but good for the mind, soul, and emotions as well.

I hope you can carve out time in your busy life to seek peace in the woods. There’s nothing like it. And with that, I will take a break next week from blogging to do a couple of days backpacking and will let you know how that goes!
